As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words... especially when it comes to (raw) food! :D Of course, feel free to share your latest creations with us!
Photo Posting 101
There are two main ways to post your photos on RFC:
1- As Attachments
- From the 'Advanced Posting' mode, click on 'Manage Attachments'.
- You can then either upload photos directly from your computer or from a photo hosting site such as Photobucket. (It's free to set up an account, just go here (http://s179.photobucket.com/).)
2- In the main body of a post
You don't need to be in 'Advanced' mode for this one. Just click on the little picture icon above the post window. Then enter the web address where your photo is. (You'll need to set up an account with a photo hosting site as mentioned above.)
A Few Words Regarding Photo Size
OK, I'm gonna make a plea here.
If you are to include photos within the body of a post, we would greatly appreciate it if you could resize them to a maximum of 540 x 540 pixels. (Keep reading for 'Resizing Photos 101') There are a couple of reasons for this.
In the forum's initial stage, Don and I are paying for the web hosting out of our own pockets. For the moment, there's a limited amount of storage space as well as bandwidth. It will be possible to increase these once we get some fundings in our 'Community Pot'. (Remember that we're open to donations! :D )
Also, smaller photos mean faster page loading for those of us who don't have high-speed internet.
Please note that it is no longer necessary to resize photos if these are included as attachments. The forum does all the resizing for you! (Ain't technology awesome! lol)
Resizing Photos 101
Now, for those of you who aren't sure as to how to proceed, here's what you do if you're using Photoshop. (Sorry, I'm not learned in any other program! :p )
But before I get into this, here's a couple of tips to help you improve your photos in a snap:
- Go under the "Image" menu. Select "Adjustments" and click on the different "Auto's". If you like what the computer comes up with, awesome! Otherwise, you
can just click "undo" under the "File" menu.
- I also use the cropping tool A LOT.
OK, here we go...
- When you're happy with your photo, go to the "File" menu and select "Save for web".
- Once there, click on the "Image Size" tab on the right. Then enter however many pixels you want as the biggest digit. (In this case, 540 ;) )
- Click on "Apply".
- Then Save and you're all done!
That wasn't so bad, eh? So now, you have no excuse NOT to post yours! :D
