Hi,
Do someone have a solution for me? I suffer from acne since I'm 9 years old (just before puberty). Nothing really major, but none stop since then which is almost 20 years now. I always have blackheads, whiteheads on my face, upper-back and chest, and some papules and pustules on the face most of the time. I have a pretty good lifestyle though, with a good diet (exception during college and university... I ate junk food). I'm really a calm and happy person, I'm doing moderate sport, drink enough water, eat a lot of green, get enough sleep...

As a teenager I had a oily face specially on the T-zone (teenager acne), but now my skin is balanced. But acne doesn't change. Worst, I have acne around my jaw line now, which is new (adult acne). Whatever I try, nothing made any noticeable result. I'm not obsess with this pb, but I'm really tired of it and it's really the only health issue I'm dealing with. I know the skin is the mirror of your internal health, so what's wrong with me? My nutrition nor my menstrual cycle don't change anything to my acne. I'm not drinking milk, but even if I do, it doesn't affect it. I'm eating raw food since 2004 (from 50% to 100%), but there is absolutely no change!! So I doubt about the “it's detox” reason.

During the last 20 years, I tried many things like:
Dermatologist topical medication (during 5 years)
Regular visit to beautician + using their specialized facial products (during 8 years)
Birth control pills supposed to be helpful (3 or 4 different ones, over a period of 10 years)
Light laser treatment for acne
Many “over the counter” drugstore acne products
Zinc supplements
Homeopathy
Natural and home-made treatments (mask, cleaner, tonic)
Ayurvedic diet
Low-glycemic diet (DR Perricone)
Colonic and enemas
Sort water fast (1 to 3 days, one time during 7 days)
Essential oils (especially tea tree)

I'm not looking for a band-aid solution. I want to understand WHY I have acne to find a CURE and not only something to deal with acne. Thank you so much. Have a bliss day!!!

hey girl. i had acne problems, too. since probably middle school until throughout high school. i never went to a dermatologist, because i figured it was just my bad diet and like puberty. http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q94/SHOE_tutorials/current%20emo/thlaugh.gif anyway, it was horrible.

the only thing i used on my face was lotion. i've stopped since, and i don't really get anything on my face anymore. the only thing i use is extra virgin coconut oil as a moisturizer, and i'm not even 100% RAW yet.

as for my history, i was mostly a water drinker. sometimes soda when it was available. i know. bad. bad. rarely drank milk. rarely took any medication of ANY kind. i went through a very brief period (less than a month) of taking No Doz and coffee... college undergrad.. tough times... tough times... http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q94/SHOE_tutorials/current%20emo/thlaugh.gif

have you tried just not putting ANYTHING on your face for a while? just exfoliate (with a skin brush) and wash with water?

Hi JustMe!!

Thanks for your comment. I never try water only, but the skin brush yes. As for olive oil, I felt it was a little bit to oily for my skin, so right now I love to but aloes vera only. The texture of my skin is really good this way, but it doesn't affect acne either way...
;) Cheers!!

I totally hear you... same problem here, at least it used to be. Now my skin is "just" oily, but I still get an inflammation here and there sometimes.
What really helped me in the beginning was microdermabrasion. Some better beauty salons offer this treatment, it's not cheap but it really helps. Regular treatments at the beautician never helped me...
As for natural treatment, I can only suggest you don't put anything on your skin. I was obsessed with all kinds of products before, couldn't imagine my life without scrubs, toners and creams. I couldn't step out from the house without make up... Then I stopped washing my face and using products completely and it was like magic. Now I rarely wash my face, usually only when I wash my hair. Instead, I practice oil-cleansing (http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/) every other day or so.
Sunshine and fresh air helped me a lot too. My skin is much better during the summer months, when I spend a lot of time outside.
Just my experiences... Give the oil-cleansing a try, and let us know what do you think! ;)

hope this helps: this is from Andreas Moritz (my medic hero!) Joz

Certainly, acne has much do to with diet.TOO MUCH PROTEIN! Starchy foods as in refined carbohydrates attract fermenting bacteria that produce toxins which in turn enter the lymph and blood, and therefore also the skin. After a few days of eating such foods, the candida albicans population dramatically rises and toxicity levels rise.

The outer skin reflects this internal situation of irritation and inflammation. In my book Timeless Secrets of Health & Rejuvenation (ener-chi.com)I have described the occurrance of such toxicity crises. When the toxin-level reaches a saturation point, symptoms suddenly occur at which point the body becomes heavily engaged in breaking down these toxins. Once the level below tolerance has been reached, the symptoms subside again, until the next episode. The importance is on identifying the culprit foods, which is not difficult. Anything processed, factory produced can be one of them.

Thank you all for your answers.
Mosaica, I will give a try to the oil-cleansing, it sound right.... But what are you doing to your face when you're not doing the oil-cleansing. Just rinsing with water? Absolutely nothing?

If you search "tips for good skin" I have a thread on here with lots of ideas. I have found that my personal biggest helpers with skin are:

-not being uptight AND finding out what my dreams are then following them (THIS is BY FAR the number 1 for me -- above even the below for reasons I cannot easily explain but can verify big time! The others are not in order)
-Raw food
-exercise
-water
-oil pulling

By the way -- I have never had VERY bad acne but have had it off and on in my life and it was the worst in the couple years right before I went raw. I'm still looking to have "perfect skin" now that I've got the bad skin days behind me. But that's a whole different topic.

Give it time, make sure you are alkaline, and know that you are still as attractive as you choose to see yourself. Hold your head high and practice "working it" until and after your skin becomes what you would like to see.
