I'm sharing this because it annoys the heck out of me. I can't be the only one who hates the pink nonsense and the pharmaceutical and unwellness industries that back it. Sigh.
I got the following email from a well meaning friend. She sent it to her whole mailing list. The subject line: A Favor to ask
All you have to do is click!
A favor to ask, it only takes a few seconds....
* I * 6 * Y
Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.
[Eva's note: I have removed the site as I don't want to further them getting PR from this crap.]
(It literally took me 20 seconds.)
Thank you
AGAIN, PLEASE TELL 10 FRIENDS TO TELL 10
I replied all:
I'm not a cynic, but my job as a marketing director makes me look at websites and claims like the ones below with a different view. The following website has some useful info on the site: http://www.prwatch.org/node/7436
Think before you pink!
I wasn't trying to be a jerk by responding to everybody. I hope she doesn't get mad. But I couldn't NOT respond. Ugh.
Just thought I'd share.
