Zucchini milk - Strawberry Shake

http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1840,...227201,00.html

To make zucchini-milk: Joz

Peel the zucchini. Do not remove seeds or pulp. Cut into chunks about 1 inch square. Put in blender (about 1/4 full) and swish to liquefy. Let blender run until zucchini is liquefied. You can freeze zucchini-milk to use later.

**I added pinch sea salt and a drizzle of agave. 1/2 c water. Joz

. Cuts down on calories and adds fiber.

Joz, how does zucchini milk taste on it's own? Would you recommend it to use on cereal?

I have a few children who don't like almond milk (boo-hoo), rice dream (yea), soy milk (hooray!), yet they want to put something on their cereal in the mornings. (Sadly, they learned to like cow's milk--ugh!--while away at camp.) Would zucchini milk work for them?

Nope. No soy here. I used to think it was healthy...then I learned differently.
Well, we do eat edamame (ěd'ə-mä'mā) (fresh green soybeans). Do you think those are bad?

By the way, the *hooray* was because they don't like soy milk. I was not at all clear. Sorry.

Blended young coconut meat sounds yummy. I have yet to try to crack my own coconut. .............call me chicken.

So, I'm going to try zucchini milk with them. Should I be sneaky or just tell them what it is. (I'm afraid they'll say, "I don't want zucchini on my cereal!" Haha.)

oh yes you have to positively surely you must be 'sneaky' about it.

make the Strawberry Milkshake and don't tell them...

then to make the zucchini milk peel the zucchini so the 'greenish' color is not evident...(use peels in a smoothie). add a date pinch salt make it 'tasty'

and do not not tell them what it is !!! nope !!!!

**** the 1/4 c honey.... I don't use that much.....it depends on the sweetness of the strawberries.... you can always add more....

and now I'm going to just add a date or two......

Great! Thanks, Joz!!

Good advise about peeling the zukes. I didn't think about green *milk*. Yup, that would not go over too well. At least not initially. ("There goes Mom, off the deep end again.")
