thanks!! they are very flavorful, i haven't eaten any nitrate ridden flesh foods for decades, first because of a violent allergy to the chemical, secondly, ...well, ...just gross. but these puppies are on my new top 10 list.

My kids would LOVE those! Where do you get the hickory smoke flavor? With the spices?

We had these in veggie wraps, along with sauerkraut for supper. Yum! Yum! Yum! They are sooooo good! It was my first time using hickorey/ liquid smoke and both Don and I were amazed at the 'authentic' taste it gave the hot dogs. Plus they look so much like real wieners! Our 'real' dogs were totally convinced, eyeing them all the while! he he
Thanks for sharing this snowdrop!

Ohh, these doggies look amazing! "Someone in transition" is me, so I'll try to make them soon.
My only question is about that liquid smoke... I never used such a thing before so I'd really like to know, what is it made from and how... Could anyone look at the label for me, please?

The liquid smoke that I have says its all natural, its vegan, its gluten free and the ingredients are: water, natural mesquite smoke flavor, vinegar, molasses and caramel color. They do make other flavors like Hickory, pecan, and apple flavored liquid smoke.

I think you can find a not-so-healthy version in regular stores, but I got mine at a HFS. Strangely, it doesn't list the ingredients, but it does say it's all natural. My guess is that it's probably not raw but you need such a small amount anyways; that stuff is pretty potent!
