My Raw Food Dinner Party

Hi Guys! I just wanted to share my dinner experience last weekend. Last saturday I held a raw food dinner party for 16 people, in my back yard.

On the menu was:

Appetizer:

Carmi's red pepper curry soup OR

Mixed greens salad with woody's vinaigrette, pear, red onion and maple glazed walnuts

Main:

Pesto Veggie Pizza (dehydrated crust with pesto, tomato marinara, marinated veggies, topped w shredded zucchini and avocado)

Creamy Pasta Primavera (zucchini noodles w alfredo sauce, garden peas, peppers, mini tomatoes, carrots, basil, parsley and lemon zest)

Dessert:

Strawberry Lime Mousse Cake (nut crust, berry lime mousse, marinated berries on top) OR

Chocolate Fudge Caramel Cake (fudge cake, vanilla cheesecake, caramel sauce, chopped pecans and cacao nibs)

None of these people are raw foodists, but everyone said they really enjoyed the food and it seemed to be a hit! yay! I decided i want to go to people's homes and put on raw dinner parties for them/friends.

The dinner seemed to be a whirlwind once it got started. I was originally going to sit down and eat too, but it never worked that way as plating up took more time that anticipated. Fortunately i had my wonderful mother and boyfriend as the waiter/ress to deliver the food outside to the guests. thanks guys!

Anywho, it was a success...does anyone else have a raw dinner party story to share?

Oh, man, I wish I could have been there. It looked so incredible.

You are one brave lady having a bunch of non raw people over for an all raw dinner. Were they all people that wanted to try raw or were interested in raw?

Thanks guys! yeah it was fun even though a bit hectic, lol

Tracy, yeah these people are all open minded and were interested in trying raw food. they had questions about how i made everything and found it interesting that i used zucchini to make the pasta and how i made the sauce, etc.

Joz -

caramel sauce:
1/2 cup cashews
1/2 cup water
3 medjool dates
1/4 cup agave or maple syrup (i used 3 parts maple: 1 part agave)

Blend until smooth and creamy.

Tracy, well yeah im trying to build up a little raw community. its very slow but the interest IS here. Ill teach classes this winter and see how that goes over.

Sure thing Raw Vegan Mama!
I had more than enough so ive been putting it into smoothies, and topping for other things. its not 100% caramel in flavour - like the homemade cooked version i used to make...but its sweet and creamy!

Anabbytree - you live in DC? i used to live there (well actually in Bethesda) - have u been to the raw resto there?

Joz - hope you like the sauce!

Carmi - you know id totally send you some dessert in the mail if i could
at least you got some other goodies - btw, i was meaning to ask, did everything make it in one piece?
