Talking Christmas Tree Up Yet?

I am so surprised how many people already have the tree up and all the decorations out. Lots of people in our area have had them up, even before Thanksgiving.

So, tell me... Is your tree up yet?

Ahh but a pine cone makes for good foraging. (Pine nuts).

And me garment keepeth me quite warm. This we must needs have for a daring fasting foray through the winter months. The mountain snows yield pure waters, untainted by the acid rains. (But not to be confused with the 60s, Lol).

Well, not in the true spirit of juice feasting. That would work in a smoothie, tho.

Ours is up. It is part tradition and part have to.

We have two birthdays in December so we have to get our decorations up the weekend of Thanksgiving or it adds too much stress.

I was going to put up TWO trees for December Raw Pot Luck in my house;;; but the group got to be 61 so; No Way! We moved the Pot Luck to a church hall.

So I'm doing only one tree and donate the other one to someone 'worthy' It's going up this Sunday, I got: Lecture 11 a.m. & Pot Luck 1 p.m. and a Holiday party 5 p.m.on the 8th;
Birthday on the 15th:
Raw Pot Luck the 16th so this Sunday it is; has to be.

If I had a chance I'd do three trees ! I love love Xmas trees ! Joz

The thing about XMAS trees for me is that, come January, they make me feel really sad, really desolate. So I abstain.

One year my ex-husband brought in a used tree in January and spent the winter laboriously peeling the bark from its limbs. It became a fragile and beautiful shell of itself. During years to come we erected and decorated the little skeleton tree and I felt happy about it.

When I was a child in TN we sometimes had live trees with roots attached. After the holiday we planted the tree in our yard. Of course this can't be done in many parts of the country so we were lucky I guess. It is a nice memory for me though and I wonder if any of those trees live yet.

I helped my parents get it up last night!!!

It was so much fun picking one out and hanging out with them!! I haven't been able to do the tree choosing for the last 5 or 6 years because of college or being in a show, but I had more time after Thanksgiving than I originally thought and got to go with them to pick one out!

We got a 12 foot tall tree!! tee hee! I'm hoping to be able to spend more time at their house this season, to help them decorate and really get into the holiday spirit, it really is nice to do something all together.

No tree here. We celebrate Hanukkah. Our Menorah will be put into center stage fairly soon.

Happy Hanukkah to any and all Jewish RFC'ers

Happy Hanukkah to you Hadassah!

Though I am not Jewish, my ex is and when my kids were young we celebrated both holidays as they were growing up. So I feel it is a strong part of my tradition during this season, too.
