unauthorized charge on a bank card?

Hey guys,

Yes. It's me again.

I went to Best Buy on a Sunday to purchase some games with my baby brother. What happened is the cashier seemed to have somehow made a booboo with the first transaction. So he voided it. The next transaction went through fine. The thing is somehow I'm being charged for that first voided transaction on my bank card. I just checked my account today, Monday.

I've never had a problem with voided transactions before. So I'm wondering does that typically happen, and then the charge goes away?

The thing is it's with my bank card instead of a credit card. I'm not sure if I can dispute it. I did contact both my bank & Best Buy. Now I'm waiting to hear back from both of them.

So guys, ugh? Is this something I should worry about & get fixed ASAP? It's $8x.xx dollars. I could be using that for 1/4 payment towards a vitamix, man.

My experience with my bank card is that they treat it just like a credit card. Yes it is important to report it right away. Once the bank verifies that the charge is in fact wrong, they should reimburse your account. Well, that has been my experience, anyway.

Yup. Its getting to the point where you have to be so vigilant that you may just decide to stuff your money in your mattress.

Hey guys. Thanks for the responses. My bank hasn't heard back from BB yet. So I'll have to wait for a little bit & see what happens.

I've had an unauthorized charge before. I had to wait for it to settle, then they reversed it immediately (the bank). I filled out a form and sent it to them. It was pretty simple.

It seems crazy that they would make you follow up so much with this!

I actually had the same problem and I simply called my bank and they fixed it by crediting my account.

hey layla. haha yeah. this has been a good learning experience for me, b/c before I didn't even know I could treat my bank card like a credit card. before i thought if i lost money on my back card due to unauthorized charges, that would be that.
