Well, I loved them, and he hated them He did eat them, but not without a grimace, and said they tasted too much of tomatoes. Also strangely enough, they were not spicy
Anyway, the search continues! I might just have him be on a high raw diet with raw desserts, smoothies, cereal, milks etc, and a raw lunch but a cooked dinner with a big salad.
I really want to see if eating raw will cure his asthma.

Mmm, they look good. A tomato taste seems like a great thing to me! Maybe different spices? Has he tried a kale burger yet? I got it from Cornbleet I think.

oooh they look yummy! And so nice with the big salad
It' so tricky knowing what our significant others might like and what they won't like in regards to raw food. I was actually surprised my husband liked this burger and I was a bit more luke warm due to too much saltiness for me personally. For me it's like a crap shoot. I can never predict how my husband's taste buds are going to react to different recipes......
Keep trying things for your husband. And we can compare notes

Yes I'm making the berry swirl pie from RFC's anniversary, the tuna pate with sprouts and veggies in nori rolls with a salad, and green smoothies and juice for breakfast and snacks.
At least he loves the tuna pate

Very good! Next time I'll leave out the salt. This reminded me a lot of veggie burgers I've had, except much more filling. It's nice knowing every ingredient that's in your food. Next time I'll leave a bit of the ribs in the jalapeno - I really like spice and when completely ribbed and seeded, it's reminiscent of green bell pepper. I'll be careful with the amount of water I add too. They were a little moist after an hour and twenty minutes, but still yummy. Thanks for the recipe!

Hi all
Just stumbled across this recipe.
Anything I could use instead of walnuts? Almonds?
I am anaphylactic allergic to walnuts and pecans (yep - never had pecan pie!).
I think cashews would be too sweet in this for my liking. And macadamias are more exxy than gold here, so they're out too. It sort of just leaves Almonds!
In that case, would I soak them overnight? Walnuts are generally softer, I I'd probably have to something to the almonds to replicate the texture, correct???

I've used hempseeds in place of walnuts in recipes and didn't notice a difference. Might try that?
I never saw this thread, glad it was brought back to life!

:-(
Hempseeds are an illegal import to Australia, so not available.
I'll try with some Almonds and let you all know!

Oh isn't that so silly? Here in the US we can't grow them, but can buy them from the Canadians. I heard rumors that was going to change. Just think of all the $$ the US and Australia are missing out on by not growing it!
Have you ever tried it? How about hempseed oil? Is that illegal too? Just curious.

No hemp products or byproducts allowed except for hemp clothing (which obviously cannot be smoked or grown from), Lol. It's a bit harsh.
We can get Australian hemp seed oil, but it can't be imported. Has to be produced here.

I've been coming to this site for all the amazing recipes lately and I've just got to post... I doubt anyone remembers me from the rawfoodtalk site and then I moved over here for a brief bit before I quit doing raw....
anyway.. I'm about to have my first baby and I'm really feeling like I need to go back to raw.. at least 50% if not more... so I'm trying out new recipes. I just made these right now and omg, yum! Mine aren't 100% raw because my walnuts weren't raw and I don't have access to my dehydrator right now so I stuck them in the oven on the lowest temp (200)... which I know isn't raw.. but I wanted to harden them up. I tasted the "meat" mixture after it was all assembled in the bowl and wow, tasted soooooo good!
One thing I did different was I used "beef fajita meat" spice instead of the hamburger spice and I used a green pepper instead of a jalapeno cause that's what I had in my fridge.
even though it's not 100% raw I know it's healthier and better than a real burger! Anyway.. thanks .. this is definitely a winner of a recipe!

Luna,
Welcome back to raw. Best of luck on your baby!
Now you've piqued my interest, so I'd better go check out the recipe to which you refer!
