While Heathy was visiting, we came upon the
'Vibrant Living’ book by James Levin & Natalie Cederquist on the shelves of Ashinah's community kitchen. It was published some 15 years ago which makes it one of the pioneers in terms of raw recipe books. Heathy pointed out that their Cheezy Cashew Sauce just ought to be the recipe that inspired the
Rich Cheddar Sauce we all love as it is strikingly similar.
For fun, I started out with the Vibrant Living recipe, then added the bell pepper and tahini a la Cheddar Sauce. While the result was just as delicious, it was also slightly different because of the amount of seasonings and the addition of the oats as thickener. A new favorite in our house!
Try it and see what you think!
