I guess it's no secret that of all the raw desserts I've tried, this cake is my absolute favorite! We just finished a ginormous one we made for Mosaica's birthday last week and we're already planning to make it again, only this time with blood oranges. I cannot wait to see the gorgeous color it will have!!!
Sooooo, now that her much awaited Just Desserts ebook is out and since you guys seriously OUGHT to try this fabulous recipe, how about we do it together?
Personally, I'd prefer if it was in the near future as we already bought blood oranges (the season is short). How about the week after the Valentine's day Project Raw?
The weekend after Valentines day works for me! Both myself and my husband have wanted to try the choc orange cake! So that would be the 21st of February. Count me in
I'm planning on making something with cherries for Valentine's day. I just need to see where I can get fresh cherries. The raspberry white choc cheesecake in Sweet Gratitude looks like a possible option if I can't find cherries. Of course I have to make sure the co-op has raspberries....I'll be at the mercy of the local produce departments and what's in stock
I just picked up this heart shaped spring form cake pan and hope to use it on Valentines day!
Hmmm, i havent made that cake in ages! Count me in too! I'd loooove to try it with blood oranges, but none available here Carmi, will you send me over a piece?
What!?! Haven't made this jewel in ages!?! What a sacrilege! But then again, I'm sure you're busy whipping up all sorts of other sweet yummies aren't you?
Send you a piece? Why not? Anything for you, my dear!
This would be a great cake for me to make this weekend as my husband has expressed interest in the choc orange cake. Here's the funny thing. I have both e-books, Just Desserts and the Best of RFC but I didn't realize there are TWO different choc orange cakes! One by Carmella and one by Heathy! My bad! I'm easily amused and easily confused
Both orange cakes look amazing!!!!! I think what I'll do is have the hubby look at both recipes and have him pick one out.
Carmella, I do like what you have in your book about your choc orange cake. I'm tempted to just go with yours!!! : "Don was rolling around on the floor moaning in ecstasy, crying "It can't get any better, can it?" I love it!! That's so funny!!
Oh, and here's the original thread about this recipe; some 13 page long!
The recipe was based on CG's Mudslide Pie (a must try!!!) and is really yummy (as you've gathered from Don's response! hehe ) BUT to me, Heathy's cake is even better. Sends me straight to Taste Bud Heaven at every single bite!
Ok Carmella, you've convinced me. Heathy's cake it is! And I got a very positive response from the hubby about making a choc orange cake this weekend! Yay! I'll check out those threads!
mmmmmm cake! Our valentine cake didn't last too long so I'm now looking forward to the weekend!
Im ready for the project - I have almond pulp piling up the ying yang! It needs to be used!
We're having company from outta town this weekend (who is very interested in raw), so Im thinking its the perfect time to pull out all the stops: cake, ice cream, pizza, lasagna, etc etc
Just finished making out my shopping list for tomorrow! We're looking forward to the orange cake!
Quick question about the cashews in the Vitamix. Normally I always soak cashews for a bit b/c my Vitamix gets everything so hot sometimes. To avoid this do you think I could grind up the cashews first? I don't want to soak them since that's not what the recipe instructs. Heathy? Carmella? Or anyone else who's made this cake? Should I just deal with the hot batter?
