Liquid Gold Elixir (Salad Dressing)

This recipe is by Natalia Rose, whose book The Raw Food Detox Diet I'm reading right now (when am I not reading? ). It looked good, so I thought I'd post it here. It was also posted here.

Liquid Gold Elixir (SALAD DRESSING)

2 cups fresh lemon juice
3 whole cloves garlic
3 tablespoons minced ginger
3 tablespoons Nama Shoyu soy sauce
3 heaping tablespoons raw honey (or more if desired)
1 ½ cups cold-pressed olive oil

1. Place all of the ingredients except the oil in blender.
2. Begin blending at normal speed.
3. As the mixture is blending, slowly add the olive oil until it’s completely blended.

*This recipe should last over a week in the fridge

You haven't tried it yet? Two whole cups of lemon juice sounds perfect because I have a huge bag of lemons that someone gave me from their tree. Some are going funky before I can get to them.

But maybe I will cut this in half because it seems to make a lot and I may not like it.

Last night, I just bought her other book Raw Food Life Force Energy. I haven't started it yet.

No I haven't and I keep thinking of it... Thing is, lemons are super expensive right now, so I'm waiting for a good deal

Right now, all my lemons go into my daily green juices.

Hi There! This sounds like a nice change from my usual nut based salad dressings. Much lighter. Thanks.

Correct Recipie for Liquid Gold Elixir by Natalia Rose

Way too much lemon juice. This is the correct recipe:

Liquid Gold Elixir
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
• 1/2 cup cold-pressed flaxseed oil or extra virgin olive oil
• 1 tbsp. bee pollen
• 1 tsp. chili powder
• 1/3 cup minced garlic
• 3 tbsp. minced ginger
• 3 tbsp. Nama Shoyu (raw soy sauce)
• 3 tbsp. raw honey
Instructions:
Place all ingredients EXCEPT OIL in blender. Slowly add oil as the mixture blends. When made correctly, elixir is the color of gold.

enjoy!

I make this recipe the way it was originally posted, with 2 cups of lemon juice. That is the way Natalia Rose intended it.
It is amazing! Very fresh and compliments any vegetable/salad combo without overpowering. My kids eat it on avocado right out of the shell, filling the pit divit with the dressing. My husband loves it on salad and as a coleslaw dressing. It never lasts a whole week, it's always gone before then! (I have to make more today as a matter of fact.)
YUMMMO!!!

I have lots of lemons (Meyer lemons) so I might give it a try. Would you believe I posted it and never tried it? The only issue is that my hubby isn't a fan of lemon dressings, he prefers vinegar by far.

I'll have to try it both ways, I love the lemon but the kids... not so much . Though with meyers lemons, ooh Yum! Those are so sweet.

I freeze extra lemon juice in ice cube trays with a little stevia, drop a few cubes into a glass of water for excellent instant lemonaide! I don't usually like stevia but it tastes amazing this way. No wasted lemons in this house

How to tell if dressing is bad?

I made this dressing about 5 days ago and it was so delicious - I loved it. Unfortunately I got terrible food poisoning from the salad I used it with. I am almost certain that I got sick from the raw kale in the salad (not the dressing) but I'm a little nervous to eat it again.

It's been in my fridge for five days and has separated (but still smells good) - the top is yellow and very firm; almost solid. The bottom looks like pure olive oil. I shook the jar vigorously to try to mix it back together but it still looks pretty chunky.

I have enough left for many more salads and don't want to throw it away...does anyone else have experience with this dressing separating and the top part turning almost solid?

Thanks!
