I made fermented cheese yesterday that turned out really well. I flavored some of it with chopped sundried tomatoes, fresh basil and chives (from the garden!) and garlic. I also made another batch with fresh garlic and chives and
dried dill. I swear, they taste and look just like cream cheese!
So tonite for dinner was pizza on the veggie herb crust with the sundried tom/basil cheese, a bruschetta topping (black olives, basil, cherry toms, garlic, olive oil) and marinated mushies. Oh My Goodness!!! I swear I could eat raw pizza every day!
I ended going to my friend's house with the nightmare eating roommate to watch the hockey game. I did have my cantaloupe.
But I then made huge salads for everyone with herbs and mixed greens and lovely lettuces, celery, etc and fresh squeezed lemon and garlic EVOO dressing. I brought over some rice cheese for them and put that in the salad with Mary's Gone Crackers. They all loved it.
They have a terrible habit of eating cow ice cream every night, so I also brought over some Coconut Bliss coconut milk ice cream sweetened with agave. And the roommate admited it was good.
rice cheese, flax crax, and coconut milk ice cream not but, but a HUGE improvement over what they usually have.
Tonight we are trying the Spinach & Cream Pasta Casserole, without the spinach because we are all out and with double the mushrooms because we have lots of criminis. The mushrooms are marinating now. (I keep eating them, they are so good with the tamari).
For the past 4 years I have been eating raw with my family without using a dehydrator. I just got one and I am at a bit of a loss. When you try to heat up a meal using the dehydrator - in the case of tonights meal for an hour at 110 - do you have to cover the dish of food somehow? Everytime I try to warm up food, it just shrinks and gets dried out...
Lol, we're having the same thing, the Spinach & cream pasta casserole! I got a wonderful bunch of spinach on the farmers market, and the first thing popped into my mind when I saw it was that I have to make this tonight! Oh, and the amazing Cream of zucchini soup, since I got some fresh dill as well.
CuisineCru, you don't need to cover this dish in the D. The zucchini has plenty of water; I always find it nice and juicy coming out of the D.
We just finished eating this dish. My partner and I loved it! My daugher (age 3) only wanted to pick at the mushrooms and said she didn't like the cream sauce but I think this was just because she wasn't hungry (after grazing on fresh fruits and veggies all day). This is an instant favourite for us regardless.
I am soooo happy I found this site with all these wonderful live creations.
Thanks!
...And yes, the D worked fine. I guess I haven't been patient enough to just to leave dishes for an hour to warm up.

I'd recommend the Cheddar cheeseas a sauce for next time. I'm sure your daughter would love it.That's my personal favorite too!
Peppers stuffed with sunflower pate, avo, sprouts, grated carrot and a side salad. I'm so glad to see other "raw" people also eat cooked food. I am struggling to find the balance.
last night we had
raw coconut curry (w/peppers, shiitakes, carrots) (this is the staple stand-by at our house lately)
cabbage and chic pea salad with orange-ginger marinade
rice (for the non-rawies)
tonight::!!
buckwheat calzone dough with choice of toppings (pesto, greens, avocado etc) (pizza-like)
pasta with pesto
fresh spinach
(pasta = zucchini and some reg. for the kids... )
plus making saurkraut, should be ready for the weekend...
