What is the best (truely) organic facial cleanser?
Looking for something that is honestly organic with no harsh chemicals.
Something that will not strip away essential oils (my under eyes look all dried out after using most otc cleansers) and will instead...smother your face with pure and beneficial ingredients.
Any experiences appreciated as there is so much misinformation out there.
Thanks!
P.S. Not looking for an emollient cleanser or a cream that will block pores either! Is there anything
that provides natural moisture without clogging pores out there? Something organic??
i put whole oat groat in the dry vitamix container and blend till almost flour, but with still some chunks.
put a bit in your hand, add hot water to make a paste then wash face. rinse well. it's not a heavy duty cleanser, but i find it works and i have sensitive skin. i used rose water at one point and looooved the way that felt after washing. i am looking into where to get some and will start using that again.
Thanks Ani for the great tip! I remember using a cleanser with oatmeal back in Europe many years ago (don't remember the brand, but it was organic) and I quite liked it. Nowadays I don't use anything on daily basis since I don't use makeup anymore. My skin has improved tremendously since I wash it only twice a week, when I wash my hair. Then I use an organic scrub, but I have to use moisturizer afterward, so that wouldn't fit the bill here. Redhill, are you looking for a product, or rather a homemade solution?

Thanks for asking and sharing.
Looking for a product since, knowing me, I would not take the time to prepare something every time.
My friend never washes his face (just rinses) and has much better skin than I do! Maybe I am missing something?!
Is it better to only wash 1-2x per week?
Why don't they make a cleanser that adds moisture using natural ingredients instead of stripping away essential oils and leaving my skin (especially under the eyes) dried out looking?
In my humble understanding, chemicals are bad for us. Our skin is our largest organ of elimination and detoxification; it has a self-cleaning ability and if you put chemicals on it (no matter if organic or not), it will only mean additional work for the skin- eliminating those chemicals as well. In my own experience, if you clean up your diet, detox your body, your skin will become healthy and beautiful, reflecting the inner state of your whole system. No makeup will be needed anymore, hence no cleanser either...
To get there might be a fairly long journey, but it's totally worth it. In the meantime, it's good to use natural, homemade remedies for your skin, like coconut oil, or whip up an avocado-honey mask (or use clay and seaweed), try oil cleansing (http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/) and dry skin brushing (http://www.beautifulonraw.com/Facial...Your_Face.html). I'd recommend Tonya Zavasta's website: http://www.beautifulonraw.com/. It goes in dept on natural beauty and sells some awesome, natural products as well.
Hope this helps.
i find i need to wash my face everyday. even if just with water and cloth.i guess wash means different things: i "wash" my face at least twice a day, sometimes more in the summer. by "washing" i mean using water and sometimes a cloth, or sponge. i use the oatmeal pretty much once a day right now. i live in the city and inevitably dust and dirt are everywhere! (not the nice kind) i have heard that heavy metals, even, are contained in this dust.
i use a sea sponge to scrub my face sometimes.
the oatmeal: i make a jar up and keep it in the bathroom. it really doesn't take any more time than squeezing some onto your hand from a bottle but i understand wanting something prepared.
i just bought some rose water found it at the grocery store. this is supposed to be amazing cleanser and anti-wrinkle i used a homemade product by a friend a while back that was made with rose water and essential oils - it feels nice, maybe a few times a week, to help pull the grime out of the pores. i just heard something about bacteria in blackheads? i don't know anything about this, but i have blackheads, and i'm hoping a bit of tea-tree rose water helps my skin-organ to cleanse these!
ingredients: distilled rose water.
i'm sure it's not organic, but has to be better than toxzema or any alcohol-based cleansers.
I don't even prepare anything anymore. i just alternate between coconut oil or almond oil. rub it on and use a warm cloth to rub it off. A spritz of rosewater and most may be good to go. I have exzema and very dryskin so I small amount of Neem cream (purchased but very pure) or just some jojoba oil and I am good to go.
I just bought Burt's Bees carrot body lotion last week. It's sooo heavily scented that I can barely stand it. Plus it doesn't provide enough hydration for dry skin. I think I'll go back to unscented. BWC (Beauty Without Cruelty) has a very good unscented body lotion.

Care and Use
Apply to face daily after cleansing to improve texture, diminish fine lines, and renew skin's own moisture. Keep unused creams in cool and dark location.
The wet cloth gets off the oil. If you just splash water on your face, its not going to come off. I don't see what the difference of morning or night would make.
I have tried the oil cleansing method and must say it works magic. I used castor oil (cold pressed, hexane-free) with a drop of tea tree oil. I think it's preferable to do it in the evening since your skin is rejuvenating during the night. Also, the pores open, so it's best to stay away from outside pollution. I'd say give it a try. Castor oil is inexpensive, you have nothing to lose.
