I was thinking about the cake from Alissa's book, so I am so happy you liked it. I am going to check out the cream stack, however, I am not sure that will work for German Chocolate -- I may try that for another occassion, though.
This cake will be for our 6th wedding anniversary in August! I want to make something he loves, and German Chocolate cake is something he loves! LOL!
If you are not familiar with German Chocolate cake, it is a sweet chocolate cake with a creamy coconut pecan frosting. Here is a history of it
, which is kinda funny! It is not German, as in "from Germany" at all! It is really German's Chocolate Cake, as in Sam German.
I never knew this, and have eaten it for 30 years. Of course, most of my family is German, so I thought it was a German thing, along with the German Potato Salad and all that good beer!
I will post the recipe I come up with, if it tastes good!
I think I will start experimenting soon.
