Cinnamon-Lucuma Apple Chips

Yummy cinnamon scented apple rings that will make your kitchen smell delicious. I use an apple/corer peeler to go faster, and it makes perfect little rings too. The cinnamon adds spiciness and the lucuma adds sweet creaminess.

Ingredients
- 6-8 sweet, firm apples (I used Fuji apples)
- 1 T powdered cinnamon
- 1 t powdered lucuma

Directions
- Peel and slice the apples into rings. An apple slicer/corer works great for this. Mix the cinnamon and lucuma together.

- Arrange the apple rings on mesh dehydrator trays. Fill a wire mesh type tea ball (or small sieve) with the cinnamon-lucuma mixture. Sprinkle all apples slices evenly and generously.

- Dehydrate at 135 degrees for an hour. The apples are so high in moisture that despite the high temperature, the evaporation process will keep the apples raw.

- After an hour, lower the temperature to 110 and let the apples dry until they no longer show signs of moisture (overnight is good).

- Store in a sealed container. If the container shows signs of condensation, the apples were not dried long enough.

Thank you. These look fabulous. I have been meaning to dry some apples while they are still fairly plentiful in stores. This has inspired me to get moving.

LOL, dh is an apple farmer and my kids eat dried apples all the time and I just LOOOOVE my apple/peeler-corer. Brought it to a raw-food retreat and the people there were amazed by it.

Anyway, I never thought about adding lucuma powder!!!

Thanks for the tip. Will give it a try.

Thanks for sharing.

Velvet, yours look great!!! I just made some yesterday and missed this post darn!I would have added lacuma..(next time). I kept the skins on. I am still not sure they are done..but so far, no moisture on the bag. I ran the D at 105, but for 12 hours or so...hoping they are ok. I did pop them back in for a few more hours, so even more "done" than my pic shows. Thanks for suggestion!! This is how mine look...plus a few more hours.

Awesome!! I took the skins off because I heard they get tough after dehydration. How did yours turn out?

Hi Velvet,

I liked them. Adds a little crunch and you have to chew more, which if probably good for me anyway, but i kinda like the texture.
