Dear friends,
About 6 years ago, we used to connect deeply with 4 other people when we still lived on Vancouver Island: Don's daughter Amber, Sean, Jordan (Dragonfly) and Lindsay (the last 2 have joined RFC.) We called it a 'warrior's party' at the time, to borrow Don Juan Matus' terminology from Carlos Castaneda's work.
It was an intense and extremely growthful phase! Actually, we used to think of it as an energy vortex. Incredible how growth can be accelerated when a group of people are gathered with a genuine intention to 'do work'.
Some time after that, through a series of magical synchronicities, the two of us moved to where we presently live, in southern interior BC. It seems like this place found us, rather than us finding it. We live at Benailse, a retreat center that was built some 20 years ago, I think, but its function started transforming just when we moved here. (Perfection in action, once again!
) It hasn't had many outside visitors in the last few years, but Don and I are sort of in 'permanent retreat', so the land does continue to serve its healing purpose. We pretty much come down our mountain (literally!) only to get food, so the irony isn't lost on us that, without having to leave our secluded little corner, we are still able through the wonders of technology to connect with you all, wherever you may be.
As we say in our intro, we've been carrying the vision of living with other like-minded spirits for years, and know it will happen someday. We trust that Life/The Mystery will take care of that once the time is right. In fact, we feel that true community is not so much a physical thing, but rather an energetic state of mind. In that light, Don was already living in community even while physically on his own (with freedom warrior spirits in whatever realm.)
To our surprise, this dream of building community has now taken a virtual turn through this forum. There is such a quality of people that have gathered here, and such strong bonds already developing, it makes you wonder at the possibilities! You just never know what Life has in store for you next!
